Activity Description:

  • Ride in the only genuine WW2 landing crafts in New Zealand and learn the fascinating history of these vehicles
  • Learn about the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera, how it changed the lives of local Maori and shaped the land into what we know today. This includes the geographical impacts caused by the eruption which remains New Zealand’s third most impactful natural disaster to this day.
  • Learn about the forestry industry and how the volcanic soil impacts growth rates in our trees and other plant life.
  • Explore scenic reserves and bird sanctuaries and learn how flora and fauna survive in our environment
  • Learn about the lakes including water quality, preservation, formation and modern day uses
  • Explore the history of Maori culture and migration to Rotorua. Learn how they used the land to thrive and learn about the journey taken to get to Rotorua and establish on our land.
